Puerto Maldonado, Peru

 Puerto Maldonado, 

I would love to start a series on my trip to Peru recently, this was my first time to Peru (as a matter of fact my first time to South America ) and after arriving to Lima, our first stop was in Puerto Maldonado.  

 

Puerto Maldonado is of a tropical climate and it was so hot and humid there, lots of sunblock and as less clothes as possible. There we decided to take some day trips and it was so amazing, I think this is closest we would get to experience was the Amazon rainforest is like. It gave the me the same type of vibes a Caribbean island would.

 

 

The food was amazing, we ate a restaurant called Burgos, this restaurant is a total recommend, as it is totally clean and there is no risk of food issues. I selected the Patarascha which is a fish dish and the fish delicacy is  wrapped in something like banana leaves which is called Hoja de bijou and the small ball are made from banana called Tacacho. Then we had sides such as plantains and avocados

We try to understand, but is that really necessary to become sympathetic or empathetic to one's pain? This is the theme that underscored the recent documentary Self-portrait, based on the life story of the renowned photographer Lena Marie Fossen, who struggled with the eating disorder anorexia nervosa. Lena’s anorexia began at 10 years old, when she decided that she wanted to remain a child and not grow up, why she came to this conclusion was never addressed in the documentary. I think to some extent all of us are nostalgic to our childhood, a time of innocence, being carefree, being protected and no worries at all, perhaps in some way she wanted to hold onto this time. Cezanne, Matisse and Picasso

Paul Cézanne born in 1839, Aix-en Provence was a Post-impressionist French painter who became the bridge between impressionism and early modern art such as Cubism. One of his most recognized pieces is ‘The Large Bathers’ that was produced towards the end of his life.  In this painting he did not conform to nineteenth century methods and was applauded by critics for its wide spaces, well –formed figures and use of color (Artble, 2013). Cézanne was able to fulfill his purpose of creating a timeless piece. Two upcoming artists that were highly influenced by the way Cézanne analyzed and pulled apart the subject matter were Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso.
