                                     Photo: Lima, Peru When travelling to Peru, especially as a backpacker one needs to plan carefully for the trip. As I had followed these following tips my trip was hassle free, so here we go:   1.       Get your necessary vaccines beforehand, e.g. Yellow fever, Cholera, Hepatitis A and B, Tetanus. 2.       As a backpacker I would recommend for 1 month trip bring like 1-2 week’s worth of clothes because the hostels or nearby will have laundry services. 3.       Pack your clothes with layers so it does that take up space in backpack, so for example t-shirt, light sweater, ticker jacket and then a shell winter jacket with lining 4.       Space saver bags, these made my travelling so much easier and organized, so totally recommend using 5.       Prepare to  NOT  drink the tap water in Peru (bottled water all the way even for brushing teeth) and I even took it further not eat the vegetables because drinking the water can make you very sick.   Puerto Maldonado,   I would love to start a series on my trip to Peru recently, this was my first time to Peru (as a matter of fact my first time to South America   ) and after arriving to Lima, our first stop was in Puerto Maldonado.     Puerto Maldonado is of a tropical climate and it was so hot and humid there, lots of sunblock and as less clothes as possible. There we decided to take some day trips and it was so amazing, I think this is closest we would get to experience was the Amazon rainforest is like. It gave the me the same type of vibes a Caribbean island would.     The food was amazing, we ate a restaurant called Burgos, this restaurant is a total recommend, as it is totally clean and there is no risk of food issues. I selected the Patarascha which is a fish dish and the fish delicacy is  wrapped in something like banana leaves which is called Hoja de bijou and the small ball are made from banana called Tacacho. Then we had sides such as plantains and avocados

  It is has been a while since I have return to blogging, many things have occurred during the past year. I have moved once again and have used the past year to make myself acclimatized to a new culture and new language. This has been my fourth country and the sixth city that I have lived in.   With this in mind, I reflect on the need to make connections with locals, assimilate to their cultural nuances. For the first time in my life, I am no longer eager to meet new people, I am no longer interested in answering the same questions, where are you from? what is your job? Why did you choose to come here?  I think due to the fact that these new acquaintances will only remain in your life momentarily until you make the next move.   The long-term relationships that I have had and still maintain I will keep in my heart, however I wonder if I have room for more, as basic introductions and social gatherings seem mundane, repetitive and emotionally exhausting.   I think I now understand the ter

I wanted to travel to Jamaica to see my family, enjoy the sunshine, eat some yummy food and just be home. However,  life had other plans, COVID-19  ruined my intentions to be home :-(. Nevertheless, I had my vacation days and needed to use them. So how about vacationing in my city, Prague :-). I decided to venture to all the places that I have never got the time to visit in Prague. The first place was the Lobkowicz Palace, I was one of the few visitors there, many of times in the different room I was alone, and so I got the opportunity to experience the authenticity of the palace and its art pieces without the bustling of the many tourists that often visit Prague. Some of the fascinating aspects I observed was how the  Lobkowicz family has retained its heritage for hundreds of years. This just got me thinking that if it wasn’t for slavery probably I would have been able to trace my lineage and have many stories passed down to me, as displayed in Lobkowicz Palace.   It has been months since I have watched a movie in its entirety, at the suggestion of my dear sister I decided to watch the film Crazy Rich Asian. This movie has parallelled my life in a way I didn’t expect. The movie begins with a Singaporean family walking into a hotel trying to check into their accommodation, however, due to the prejudices of the receptionists, the family is not allowed to check-in. It is only after a phone call from the madam in the family, that it is realised that she is the new owner of the hotel. Why did these white nationals immediately assume that this Singaporean family was not good enough? The world is greatly flawed and all seem to have the notion that we are better than someone else, that a person should fit in a certain box and only in a certain box. White supremacy, discrimination and racism are a part of the greatest misconstrued ideas that entire our world experiences.
